Cassie is a Duke undergraduate (class of 2021) studying mechanical engineering and biology. She has been fascinated with animal structure and physiology from a young age, and hopes to strengthen the intersection between these natural machines and the machines of society. Working with Dr. Crystal Reynaga in the Patek Lab, she studies the effects of substrate conditions on grasshopper jump performance. She ultimately hopes to better understand the gaps in our current technology and natural systems that might provide the answers.
